biological response modifier
a therapeutic agent, such as interferon or interleukin, that influences the body's defence mechanisms to act against a cancer cell. These substances are normally produced in small amounts by the body; relatively large doses are being studied for cancer treatment, especially in melanoma and renal cancer.
